Mend first: a repair service as a design principle
Free repairs, for as long as the piece lasts
R. Liepa · 9 November 2025

Offering free repairs is a design constraint disguised as a service. If a piece must be mended, it has to be built to be opened, unpicked and reassembled.
Seams are finished so they can be undone. Linings are attached so they can be replaced. Nothing is fused shut.
The studio keeps yarn from every dye lot for exactly this purpose, so a repair five years on still matches.
